In this project-based creative writing class, students take on the challenge of developing an original novel or other long-form story. With guided instruction and consistent writing practice, middle and high school writers build core fiction skills while working toward a personalized word-count goal. Each session focuses on drafting new scenes and strengthening accountability as students track their progress. Throughout the course, they explore key elements of storytelling—character development, plot structure, setting, dialogue, and more—while creating a substantial piece of original work.
